AAR

AEG
Automatic Electric Gun - A general term for electric powered airsoft rifs.
AO
Area of Operations (also see Operations Area - OA)
ATV
All Terrain Vehicle
Ally
A word which describes how cool someone or their equipment looks
Atacs
Army Tactical Communitcations System
BDU
Battle Dress Uniform (Typically camouflaged clothing)
BFG
Blank Firing Grenade
BWA
Biological Weapon Agent
Bergen
A large military rucksack supported by a frame.
Blue on Blue
Someone has f*cked up and hit their own team.
BlueFor / BluFor
Blue Forces - Faction Designation - Typically used as NATO forces (See also GreenFor and OpFor)
Bounding
The movement of coordinated units (See Pepper Potting). The first element (A) provides cover whilst allowing the second element (B) to move in the direction of travel. (B) then stops and takes provide cover whilst (A) moves accordingly.
Boxing
A strategy to "box in" your enemy forcing them to defend on all sides.
Brew
A hot drink (Tea, coffee... or maybe a latte if you're posh)
Brief / Briefing
A meeting prior to undertaking a tasking to ensure everyone has the information they need and to plan the execution of that task.
Buddy System
Pairing up with a team mate. This is useful for sharing kit (reducing carry weight), sharing ammo, providing cover and ensuring that there is always someone who will have your back.
CAMWATAGARACS
Covers all technology - Combat Airsoft Mobile Weapons Assisted Targeting And Ground Air Recce Automated Comms Systems. "I have my CAMWATAGARACS squared away".
CO
Commanding Officer (Typically the one telling you to do something)
CONTACT
When under fire or you know you're about to be you shout Contact. This is not to be confused with "Movement" or "Eyes On" or "Stand To". Ideally you would shout "Contact" and then follow this up with more information - where from, how many, weaponry, etc).
CQB
Close Quarters Battle - a situation that involves a fight at short range (typically fighting in buildings present a a CQB scenario)
CQC
Close Quarters Combat (See CQB)
CTR
Close Target Reconnaissance
CV
Command Vehicle
Camping
Typically used in first-person shooter video games, "camping" refers to hiding or otherwise remaining in a out of sight in order to ambush an enemy or objective, avoid harm or deny the area to the enemy.

Choke Point
Forcing your oponent into a single point of attack
Coffie / Coffee
Anyone that gets people going!
Comms
Short for communications - covers things like radios, headsets, etc. Usually used in airsoft as "My comms are down"
DMR
Designated Marksman Rifle - These typically have a specific set of MED, FPS, ammo rules, etc depending on the game event.
DMZ
Demilitarised Zone - This has been sometimes used to designate a safe zone or a "Civilian Area" depending on the event.
DS
Directing Staff
DZ
Drop Zone - A designation for where parachuted resources land (Troops, supplies, resources, etc)
Debrief
An after event discussion to feed back intelligence, explain what happened, assess what went wrong, etc. (See AAR)
Doss Bag

EBB
Electric Blow Back - your rif has a recoil function which is created by an electric system rather than by gas (see GBB).
ETA
Estimated Time of Arrival - how long is it going to take you or when will it happen.
EZ
Extraction Zone - A designation for extracting assets or resources from the AO.
Endex
End Exercise - in airsoft, it's usually the end of the event.
Eyes On
Quite simply "you have eyes on the target". This does not constitute a "Contact"

High Ground
Never underestimate the value of defending the high ground. Airsofters generally hate hills� running up them is hard work. It's hard to fight up-hill.
IFAK
Individual First Aid Kit - this is technically the kit you carry for you.
IR
Infra-Red - a part of the light spectrum that can not be seen by the naked eye.
Intel
Short for Intelligence.
JTF
Joint Task Force - A Faction designation (typically comprised of NATO units, but not specifically restricted to this, for example DEA/Police, etc)
KFS
Knife Fork Spoon
KIA
Killed in Action
LBV
Load Bearing Vest - vest harness which allows you to carry equipment and ammo on your person (see also PC).
LMG
Light Machine Gun - These typically have a specific set of MED, FPS, ammo rules, etc depending on the game event.
LUP
Laying Up Point
LZ
Landing Zone - A designation for an insertion point (typically used as a map reference)
MED
Minimum Engagement Distance - Site specific rules may require you to only shoot at a certain FPS when your target is a certain distance away or further (for example 30m).
MGL
Multiple Grenade Launcher - Like a six shooter� but it shoots 40mm style rounds.
MIA
Missing in Action
MRE
Meal Ready to Eat - MREs come in various sizes, UK packs are for 24 hours, US tends to be smaller quantities.
MSR
Main Supply Route. (Also a good brand of mountain equipment!)
Mk 1 Eyeball
Using your eye rather than night vision, thermal, etc
Movement
You have spotted movement. This does not constitute a "Contact"
NBB
Non-Blow Back - A RIF which doesn't have a recoil system. Typically used when discussing gas based rifs with no recoil function as a lot AEGs don't have a recoil system.
NVG
Night Vision Goggle (s) - the ability to see in the dark using IR illumination or ambient moon light.
NoFo
Short for November Foxtrot

Personal Defence Weapon - Tends to cover smaller weapons like the MP5K, MP7, MP9 etc.
PMC
Private Military Contractor - Faction Designation - Guns for Hire / Mercenaries
POI
Point or Person of Interest - This could identify certain areas of the AO or specific individuals who need to be identified, investigated and/or intelligence collected on.
Pepper Potting

Pyro
A pyro technic device used as a grenade (Mk5, smoke, etc).
RIF
Replica Imitation Firearm - basically, an airsoft gun that looks real or could be confused with a real weapon.
RIS
Rail Integration System - the provision of a standardised rail system for connecting attachments to a weapon platform.
RO
Radio Operator - this person is typically a designated person in a team to liaise with Zero (Command) or other teams.
ROF
Rate of Fire - how many BBs can be fired a second.
RPS/RPM
Rounds per Second / Rounds per Minute (See also ROF)
RV
Rendezvous Point
Racing Spoon
Long handled spoon for eating bag meals (the long handle prevents you getting food juice on your fingers!)
ReOrg
Re-Organise - Typically after an attack or scenario that affects the effectiveness of your team.
Recce
Reconnaissance (Recon is a US terminology)
Red Dot
A non-magnifying sight for firearms which features a small red dot.
Rotation
Swapping out with another person or team. You "rotate" off stag duty when you're relieved".
SF
Special Forces - Faction Designation - Although not that regularly used as it's taking the immersion element a bit over the top.
SITREP
Situation Report - Providing a concise description of the current situation, sharing intelligence, etc.
SMG
Submachine Gun - typically a handheld lightweight machine gun (eg MP5).

Secondary
This is your secondary weapon - typically a pistol, or SMG. It's unlikely you will see a player running an LMG as their secondary.
Short Dot
A red dot sight combined with a longer range sight or scope to provide target acquisition at long range or short range distances.
SigInt
Intelligence gained from radio signals / radar (or knowing the enemy's radio frequency!)
Stag Duty
Guard Duty. One possible reason this is called this is a shortening of "STAnd Guard".
Stand To
You are required to get into a state of readiness for a potential attack or immediate action. This should not be shouted every 5 minutes because Bob has seen a squirrel move.
TAB
acronym for "Tactical Advance to Battle" - lots of walking.
TAG
A common term for a TAG Innovations grenade. These come in different types - but are basically a launchable pyro-technic device.
TANGO
Slang for a target "Two tangos spotted".
TIC
Troops In Combat
TP
Toilet Paper. A very... very valuable commodity.
TVAS
Tactical Vest Antenna System - A body worn antenna for communications
Tasking
A task for you to undertake.
Thermal
Night Vision but on steroids. You can hide from NVG... you can't really hide from thermal that easily.
Turdis
A Portaloo, from its resemblance to Dr Who's box.
UAV
Unmanned aerial vehicle - this would typically be a drone used for intelligence gathering.
UBAC
Under body army combat shirt - a top to be worn under body armour systems. (see also BDU)
UKARA
United Kingdom Retailers Association. This is not a licence. This is a simplified method to allow shops to check you have a valid defence for purchasing a rif in accordance with the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.
Underslung
An object mounted to the underside of your weapon system.
VCP
Vehicle Check Point
Yomp
Royal Marines slang for marching with heavy equipment over difficult terrain.
